Local 79 appreciates the tremendous sacrifices and contributions of its retired members. Their commitment and hard work has contributed to the overall success of the Local. As a result, the Local 79 Retiree Committee was formed in 1996 to help keep the Local's retirees connected with its current members and advocate for better retiree benefits.

Local 79 and the Mason Tenders District Council sponsor several events each year:

  • The Spring Luncheon
  • Yankee and Mets games
  • Belmont Racetrack Bar-B-Que
  • Atlantic City Bus Trips
  • Retiree Reunion- Orlando, Florida
  • Annual Christmas Luncheon
  • ALL RETIREE EVENTS INCLUDE:
  • Never any out of pocket cost to members
  • Food, beverage, & admission always provided
  • Spouses are welcomed and encouraged to attend
  • Giveaways and prizes
Local 79 publishes a quarterly newsletter to keep the retirees informed about news of the Local, benefit changes and upcoming events. These events are hugely popular among both retirees and the Local's leadership
